10/16/22: Cleaning Spoons
“What do you mean you just lick the spoon?”
“It’s exactly what it sounds like. I wash spoons by licking them clean and then putting them on the drying rack.”
“Do your roommates mind?”
“They lick them clean too.”
“And you haven’t gotten sick.”
“Is that a statement or a question?”
“Question.”
“No we haven’t gotten sick. Saliva happens to be a pretty good disinfectant. Your body is producing all those IgA antibodies, gotta put them to good use.”
“What about when grease gets onto the neck of the spoon? The part that doesn’t fit past your mouth?”
“You just lick it. Give the whole thing one good lick, you know? A good once-over.”
“What about plates?”
“Oh we put those in the dishwasher. We’re not barbarians, you know.”
