7/22/22: Time Loop Clinical Trials
The period immediately after the discovery of time-looping technology was conflict-ridden. In the timelines in which humanity did not end, the world settled into a stable equilibrium mostly better off and more unified than before.
In these timelines, Loop Tech was restricted to two uses: early warning protocols with timeline-rollback for world-ending extinction events, and medical research.
The ability to roll back time meant that clinical trials could be run using the same cohort of participants as both control and intervention groups. No longer did medical statisticians have to control for confounders - for there were none.
There was an initial New Replication Crisis, in which old therapies were re-investigated and the ones without benefit discarded (Memantine was finally demonstrated to be no better than placebo, surprising no one). And then afterward came the golden age of medical discovery.
“What a time to be alive,” Tom thought, chewing happily on his GeneRX Vita-Pill. “What a time.”
